Destiny

A New Book by Andrea Buginsky

Today I interviewed Andrea Buginsky about her new book and this is what she had to say about it:

"I love fantasy. It is a great way to escape the world you’re in and enter a number of others. When I started writing my own fantasy stories, I was amazed at how pulled into the worlds I was creating I was. It was as if the world around me changed to the setting of my stories as I wrote them. Occasionally, I would be interrupted, and it felt like being pulled back through a portal and returning to our world. I would immediately take care of the situation and quickly return to the world in my story.

The first world I created was Phantasma, a magical realm with elves, dwarves, goliaths, queens, monsters, and magic. It is the world in my first series, The Chosen.

The second world I created is Avalon. Although it takes place in modern time, it is set apart from the rest of the world, and feels like a world of its own, lost in a time of long ago, when King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table were in Camelot, and the Lady of the Lake and Merlin were in Avalon.

My new world focuses on one important aspect of Avalon: New Avalon. This special place is important to many people all over the world, many of whom don’t yet know of its existence. It becomes a part of them once they discover it, and many decide to stay there rather than returning to their own world.

New Avalon is a place for discovering yourself, who you truly are and whom you’re meant to be. It’s about learning about the world around you in a way you never dreamed possible. I hope you’ll join me at New Avalon, and discover something wonderful about yourself."

Constantly teased and taunted by the popular girls, Elena Baxter desperately wants to fit in. On her sweet sixteenth, she receives two shocking gifts: telekinesis and the surprising truth about her heritage.

With high hopes that things will be different now, Elena returns to school to find that nothing has changed. Only this time her hurt feelings and frustration boil into something even she cannot understand.

When her powers explode, chaos ensues and she learns that her new ability is greater than she ever desired. As she learns to control her powers, Elena discovers there’s so much more to her heritage than she ever imagined.

Excerpt:

As Elena bounded back up the stairs, her mom watched, smiling, thinking about the last 16 years, and of all this next one would bring.  She knew there would be a lot of changes, more so than Elena could possibly know, and she was looking forward to every one of them.  She could hardly wait for Isabel’s arrival the next day so they could finally tell Elena the truth about who she was, and help her to blossom and start to become whom she was meant to be.

A Shield of Health   It’s Only Madness A New Book by Bill Talcott First of all I would like to thank Lawrence Fisher for inviting your Dear Old Uncle Bill to his blog and giving me the chance to convince people NOT to purchase the latest book, Shield of Health by that madman Bill Talcott. That’s right, NOT purchase Shield of Health. It’s crazy to think that anyone would sit in front of a computer for a countless number of hours writing about people and places that don’t exist. And it’s not just the writing, it’s the time spent thinking this stuff up. You’d have to be out of your mind. Right? The whole idea is almost as insane as The Mission . So I guess you could consider this Bill Talcott guy to be twice as crazy. Oh excuse me, my psychologist says that term is no longer used. Whatever. Just to give you an example of the madness I’m talking about, here’s an excerpt from Shield of Health. The senator remained calm, letting Mack come across as the one who was bein...

Author Spotlight: Bill Talcott

Today I will talk to Bill Talcott and his Remnants of the Past series. here is what he has to say: A long time ago I had written a story that I called ‘They Were Gods’, and before I had a chance to do the rewrites and editing, I set it aside to write a short twenty or thirty page story for a group of friends that I played video games with. The story turned out to be so much more and would eventually be called " The Mission ". The story takes a band of mercenaries to a distant world known as Valdorion. For me, the most amazing thing about "The Mission" is not so much the story, it is how the characters are a part of me. In reality, there is a part of me in each character I write. Yes, even the villain, Senator Tyrell! The idea for the story came at a time when my own government had drawn a line in the sand, forcing the people of the country I live in to do what it told us was right. We were told that we were either with our government or with the terrorists....
